Kev Sykes
Kevin (Kev) Sykes is an accomplished audio producer, radio presenter, and DJ best known as the creator and driving force behind the syndicated brand Kev’s JukeBox. With a radio career spanning over three decades, he has established himself as a master of specialized, non-stop music curation—particularly celebrating extended 12" club mixes and nostalgia formats.
Radio Career & Heritage
Kev's foundational radio roots lie in commercial broadcasting in the West Midlands
- The Mercia Years: In the early 1990s, he worked as an on-air technical operator, commercial producer, and program maker for Mercia Sound / Mercia FM in Coventry
- The Mix Pioneer: It was during his time at Mercia that he developed The Mercia Mix (1991), a concept that later evolved into the The Power Mix and was simulcast across companion stations like Leicester Sound FM. His signature style focused heavily on smooth, continuous beat-matching without spoken-word interruptions.
Flagship Brand: Kev's JukeBox
Today, Kev operates as an independent syndicato. His main weekly offering, Kev’s JukeBox, broadcasts every Saturday afternoon from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM (UK) on Box UK.
The show features entirely exclusive extended mixes, rare megamixes, and club tracking across high-energy genres. Alongside this Saturday flagship, he curates the highly popular 80s Dance spin-off block that runs on community and internet stations globally during the week.
Other Radio Work
Beyond his syndicated mix blocks, Kev remains an active presenter in contemporary regional radio:
- Blue Sky Radio: He hosts a daily weekday morning show from 10:00 AM onwards, serving listeners across Staffordshire and Cheshire with local radio content.
- Community Work: He acts as a key figure in online listener groups, having notably served as a moderator for the independent Boom Radio Facebook Listeners Club
